During the cycles, my mind wanders way too often and I was wondering, how do I limit this?

Regarding SSILD, I was wondering, will it work if I take a long time to fall asleep? After doing SSILD, it takes me a while to sleep and I do head to the bathroom as well. Does that hinder my SSILD?
